Tata Motors is aiming to be the next big player in the Indian electric vehicle market. The homegrown automaker is working on a zero-emission version of its compact SUV Nexon. The Tata Nexon EV is expected to launch in India sometime in the next fiscal. It is likely to be priced between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom). With its cheaper pricing, the Tata Nexon EV will throw challenges to the Hyundai Kona EV.

The Tata Nexon EV would be available with an impressive running range. However, details are yet to be disclosed. The electric motor onboard the electric compact SUV will churn out around 40 bhp of peak power at 4,500 rpm. The electric motor will rely on 216 Ah, 72V batteries for energy. So far, this is going to be a very interesting product for the Indian EV market. Also, it will boost Tata Motors’ electric vehicle strategy as well.
