Entry level Diesel Hyundai Creta E 1.6 launched from Rs 10.88 lakh

Hyundai Creta 1.6 Diesel E+ and EX launched for Rs 10.88 and Rs 11.92 lakh respectively

To boost sales and provide more powerful options in the lower variants, Hyundai launched Creta E+ and EX variant in the country. The price of Creta E+ is Rs 10.88 lakh and the Creta EX will set you back by Rs 11.92 lakh ex-showroom. Both the models are about Rs 90,000 more expensive than the corresponding variants with the 1.4-liter diesel engine.

Being the entry-level model, the Creta E+ variant features minimal equipment levels. However, you will get Power windows, manual AC, halogen headlamps without LED DRLs, remote locking, electrically adjustable ORVMs, front armrest, tilt-adjustable steering for driver comfort.

This comes when Kia Seltos Diesel pricing starts from 9.99 lakh for the base variant and the second base HTK variant will cost you Rs 11.2 lakh ex-showroom with more features than the bare base model. The Seltos comes with a 1.5-liter Diesel engine which puts out 115bhp that sits in the middle of Creta’s 1.4 and 1.6 engines.

Hyundai Creta 1.4 Diesel develops 90bhp and 220Nm torque which is just not enough for the car of this size. However, the 1.6-liter diesel engine pumps out 128bhp and 260Nm torque which certain put life into the Creta. Till now the 1.6-liter diesel engine was only available on the higher-spec S and SX variants.

The main problem behind Creta 1.6’s higher price tag is the 1.6-liter engine which is larger than the government tax rebate up to 1.5-liter diesel engine. This bigger engine attract more tax and duties, hence the price. The new addition of the Creta with bigger engine options will help the company attract more power-hungry customers and fight the new sensation in the SUV segment, the Kia Seltos.
