Considering the fact that Maruti Suzuki Vitrara Brezza’s popularity in India, the Jeep small SUV will certainly be priced very aggressively. It would be based on a front wheel drive platform, but an AWD variant could be on offer as well. The SUV is expected to be built locally in India from the beginning in order to achieve the desired price point. As Jeep claims, despite being a small SUV, the upcoming model will be true to the DNA every vehicle from the brand comes with.
This confirmation comes in line with the FCA’s strategy to focus on SUV more in order to achieve higher profitability and increased sales number. Jeep India currently sells three different models that are the Compass, Wrangler and Grand Cherokee, with the first one being a successful one. Inspired by Compass’ success, the brand wants to reiterate the story again with a smaller model that will not only offer the customers a chance to own a Jeep at low price, but grab a solid chunk in a highly competitive and highly in-demand segment of Indian market.
Meanwhile, test mules of Jeep Renegade have been spotted several times in India, fuelling speculation of the car’s launch here anytime soon. As the SUV will be arriving in 2020, it would be powered by BS-VI emission norms compliant engines with a displacement of 1,500cc or lower. We hope to learn more about this SUV in coming days.
