MG SZ EV customers will get free DC fast charging facility for a limited period

MG ZS EV will finally be launched on 27th January 2020. The expected price of the MG ZS EV is Rs 22 lakh ex-showroom. However, the price reveals date is now out we are just ten days away from knowing the price and how ZS EV will tackle the Hyundai Kona. ZS EV will be the second product from the British brand in the Indian market.

At present, the bookings for the electric ZS is already open at MG website and select MG dealerships. MG’s ZS EV will become the second mainstream car for private buyers after the Kona crossover. If we consider Tata Tigor EV in the list, ZS will come down to become the third electric car for private buyers.

At first, MG ZS EV is set to launch in five cities – Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad. The fast charging facility will be available in these cities only. Slowly, the company will expand into other cities.

The ZS electric features a long list of features such as the Hector SUV does. It gets an 8.0-inch infotainment system with connected features and also supports Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Other standard features include automatic projector headlamps with LED DRLs, keyless entry, TPMS, 17-inch alloy wheels, and electric parking brake. The top variant of the MG ZS EV will be equipped with a panoramic sunroof, leatherette seats, power-adjustable driver’s seat, rain-sensing wipers as well as a PM 2.5 filter inside.

Safety features such as ABS and EBD, ESP, 6 airbags, hill start and hill descent assist, rear parking camera and sensors will be offered in the both Excite and Exclusive variants.

A 143bhp electric motor with 353Nm of twisting force will power the MG’s second product in India. The powertrain sends power to the front wheels via a single-speed gearbox. Motors draws power from a 44.5kWh liquid-cooled battery pack. Once fully charged, the battery can deliver a range of about 340km. Real-world range with AC on might drop to about 250 km.

With MG ZS EV, a one way non-stop trip to Jaipur (281km), Chandigarh (245km), and Dehradun (255km) is realistically possible.

To charge the battery, one can opt for anyways. A 50kW DC fast charger can charge the battery from 0 to 80% in just 50 minutes. A 7.4kW home AC charger can fully charge the battery in about 6-8 hours. MG is also providing a portable 15A charging cable which can juice up the battery slowly in emergency situations.
