The MG Hector has been unveiled already in India ahead of its nearing launch in June 2019. The SUV brings around 50 connected car functions, hybrid powertrain technology that are set to grab attention of the buyers. With this car, MG Motors is hoping to reach 18,000 units of yearly sales milestone.
As the brand has revealed, it will roll out the five-seater variant of Hector SUV next month. Post that, there will be a seven-seater variant of the car that will hit the market sometime next year, before the BS6 emission norms kicks in here. Setting a target of 1,500 units per month sales figure for a car that will be priced closely to Rs 20 lakh might look overambitious but the British marquee is confident to reach the goal.
USP of the MG Hector SUV is its 5G enabled connected technology. It gets a 5G Airtel SIM onboard integrated to the car’s system. This SIM will help the car to perform several functions remotely just from the owner’s smartphone. Many of these remote functions will come as India-specific. Besides that, the hybrid powertrain of the Hector SUV will be another interesting element.
This SUV will available in both petrol and diesel engine options. Petrol variant of the car will get a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that will be coupled with a 48V electric motor in the hybrid variant. On the other hand, the diesel variant will receive a 2.0-litre fuel-burner with turbocharger. Both the petrol and diesel engines promise generous power and torque output.
