Maruti S-Cross will get power from 1.5-litre K15 engine, likely to get BS6 compliance

Right after the launch of Baleno hybrid and new Alto 800, a news has surfaced that Maruti S-Cross is all set to receive the 1.5-litre K15 petrol engine. Despite Maruti Suzuki’s decision to shelve the diesel cars, this crossover will receive the in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine and besides that, it will also come with a 1.5-litre petrol motor, as Autocar reports. It could come complying with BS6 emission norms that is set to kick in from April 2020.

Sold by the Nexa retail chain, the Maruti S-Cross crossover got a new lease of life with the facelift in 2017. Its sales and appeal have increased significantly. Currently available with the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre DDiS 200 Multijet diesel engine, Maruti S-Cross’s appeal is expected to grow further thanks to the new petrol motor.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Petrol

We have been waiting for the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza petrol as well. Express Drives reports the petrol powered Vitara Brezza is launching during Diwali this year. This popular compact SUV will get the same 1.5-litre K15 petrol engine as the Ciaz and Maruti S-Cross. However, it is not sure if the Maruti S-Cross and Vitara Brezza will come with Smart Hybrid technology or not. However, considering Maruti’s will to grab a stronger spot in the environment-friendly mobility segment, these two cars could receive SHVS.

Another much-awaited car from the Maruti Suzuki is a new SUV based on the Future S concept. This SUV is expected to launch here sometime in 2020 or afterwards. With the brand’s latest adopted strategy, it won’t come with a diesel engine. Like the siblings, this Maruti Future S SUV will also receive a 1.5-litre diesel engine.
