Maruti Suzuki S Presso launched from Rs 3.69 lakh, 4 variants on offer

India’s largest automobile manufacturer, Maruti has finally launched the key rival to the Renault Kwid. Maruti Suzuki S Presso is here among starting from Rs 3.69 lakh for the standard variant. The price of S Presso is about Rs 9000 more than the base Alto K10 LX model. There are a total of 6 options to choose from, 4 being with the variants while the other two are the option of AMT gearbox.

Std            – Rs 3.69 lakh
LXi             – Rs 4.05 lakh
VXi            – Rs 4.25 lakh
VXi+          – Rs 4.48 lakh
VXi AGS     – Rs 4.68 lakh
VXi+ AGS   – Rs 4.91 lakh

The new S Presso is based on the Maruti’s new stronger Heartec platform. This is the same platform which is seen on the new WagonR, Swift, and Desire cars. The Heartec platform is now rigid enough to take on the new crash test norms. Depending on the variants the kerb weight of S Presso lies between 726 kg to 767 kg.

Maruti Suzuki S Presso is larger than Alto K10 but smaller than the Kwid

In the base variants, S Presso gets 13-inch steel rims while the Top VXi and VXi+ will feature larger 14-inch steel rims with 165/70 R14 tyres. Yes, there is no option for alloy wheels as same has been avoided to keep cost in check. The length of the car stands at 3565 mm which is shorter than the Kwid, the width is 1520 mm which is again a bit smaller than its chief rival. The height of 1564 mm is the only dimension greater than the Kwid. Wheelbase, on the other hand, stands at 2380 mm and ground clearance is pretty high at 180 mm.

The overall design profile is similar to that of Future S concept showcased by the company in the 2018 Auto Expo. Larger than Alto K10, S Presso to provide a bang for your buck if you are looking for a mini SUV from the makers of the likes of Swift and Ciaz. The design is quite catchy when seen fro the front end, the grille gets Jeep-like chrome detailing which is also seen on the Brezza compact SUV.

Taking a peek inside, the dashboard might remind you of the Mini Cooper as it is round if a profile with body-colored accents. The SmartPlay infotainment system is available on the higher variants sits below the instrument cluster which is just a speedometer with Multi-Information Display.
