Mahindra has launched the Alturas G4 SUV in India after a long wait. Based on the new generation SsangYong Rexton, this big SUV comes redefining the premium SUV segment and it competes with some tough rivals including Toyota Fortuner. The rivalry is surely going to be an interesting one as Mahindra has priced the Alturas G4 SUV very aggressively against its competitors.

The Alturas G4 is the first ever full-size seven-seater SUV from Mahindra and the brand is betting big on this model to grab a solid chunk in the segment. Mahindra Alturas G4 comes priced between Rs 26.95 lakh and Rs 29.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India). On the other hand, the Toyota Fortuner diesel is priced between Rs 29.28 lakh and Rs 32.97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Mahindra Alturas G4 is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine that is coupled with a Mercedes-Benz sourced 7-speed automatic gearbox. The engine is capable of churning out 176 bhp of peak power at 4,000 rpm and 420 Nm of peak torque between Rs 1,600-2,600 rpm. On the other hand, the Toyota Fortuner gets a 2.8-litre diesel engine. This engine is available with both the 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options. The Fortuner diesel engine is capable of churning out 174 bhp of peak power at 3,400 rpm and maximum torque output between 420 Nm and 450 Nm.
