Mahindra has launched the much awaited Alturas G4 in India that is based on the fourth generation SsangYong Rexton. The car aims to redefine the premium SUV segment in the Indian market with its muscular and loaded appearance. It is not only very strong looking but packed with a host of premium features to lure the buyers. However, the task of the SUV is not very easy, as there are several other models from different brands in this segment. These include the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.

The Ford Endeavour has appealed many customers in the Indian market already with its overall appearance. However, the American SUV is more expensive than the Mahindra Alturas G4. Here, we will take a close look at the spec-sheet based comparison between these two big SUVs.

Mahindra Alturas G4 is available in two different, with 2WD and 4WD. Pricing ranges between Rs 26.95 lakh and Rs 29.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). On the other hand, the Ford Endeavour is priced between Rs 26.32 lakh and Rs 36.81 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is available in three different trim options.

Mahindra Alturas G4 comes powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine that is paired with a Mercedes-Benz sourced 7-speed automatic gearbox. The engine is capable of churning out 176 bhp of peak power at 4,000 rpm and 420 Nm of peak torque between 1,600-2,600 rpm.

On the other hand, the rival Ford Endeavour is available with two different diesel engine options – a 2.2-litre one and a 3.2-litre unit. Transmission options for the SUV include a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The smaller engine pumps out 158 bhp of maximum power at 3,200 rpm and 380 Nm of torque output between 1,600-2,500 rpm. The bigger 3.2-litre diesel motor kicks out 198 bhp of peak power at 3,000 rpm and 470 Nm of peak torque between 1,750-2,500 rpm.
