Ford recalls 7,249 units of EcoSport compact SUV over faulty powertrain control module.
Ford recalls a total of 7,249 units of the petrol powered EcoSport compact SUV in India over a faulty powertrain control module. The affected SUVs were produced between November 2017 and March 2018. The faulty powertrain control module in these SUVs could result in to a sudden deceleration and fast draining out of batteries. The recalled Ford EcoSport SUVs will be given a software update to fix the issue at authorized dealerships at no extra cost. Ford EcoSport owners can check online if their vehicle is among the affected ones.

Ford EcoSport has been one of the most popular compact SUVs in the Indian market since it was launched here. After the launch of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the car suffered from lowered sales, but despite tough competition, it managed to continue with sustainable sales result.

The SUV comes with a more stylish appearance inside out, while the new features introduced to the model also beef up the appeal further. Ford has also introduced a new lightweight Dragon series engine that promises more efficiency.

Available in both petrol and diesel engine options, power source options for the compact SUV include two petrol motors and a diesel unit. The petrol engines include a 1.5-litre unit and a 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged engine. On the other hand, there is a 1.5-litre diesel engine as well. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox, a 6-speed manual unit and a 6-speed automatic unit as well.
