Hyundai Aura to comes with 99bhp turbo-petrol engine for enthusiasts

India’s second-largest car manufacturer Hyundai has launched its much-awaited compact sedan, Aura, in the Indian market. Hyundai Aura is basically a three-box version of the i10 Grand NIOS which was launched a few months ago.

Hyundai Aura will be powered by three engines and two gearbox options. All the petrol and diesel engines are BS6 compliant. The engines, Hyundai Aura will come with all the BS6 engines which include two petrol and one diesel engine option. Out of two petrol units, one will be naturally aspirated 1.2-litre Kappa T-GDI unit developing 82bhp/114Nm.

For those who love to handle more power, Hyundai will add an option of Venue sourced 1.0-litre turbocharged engine which is tuned to put out about 99bhp and 172Nm torque. In the name of diesel, a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder ECOTORQ unit will be used for Aura which develops 74bhp and 190Nm.

Other than the turbo-petrol, the petrol and diesel engines are mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT box. The turbo-petrol will be offered with only a 5-speed manual gearbox is a bid to keep the cost-competitive in the segment.

Hyundai Aura is developed on 65% advanced high strength steel platform and is also light in weight. The wheelbase has been increased by 25mm and now measures 2450mm which turns into better rear legroom of 885mm. Length and Height of the Aura is similar to that of Xcent at 3995mm and 1520mm, respectively. However, the width has been increased by 20mm to 1680mm. Boot space of the Aura stands at 402 litres which is well on par with the competition.
