The Honda City BS6 petrol variants get a hike of Rs 15,000 whereas the diesel BS4 gets Rs 5,000 price hike

India’s favourite sedan, the Honda City has finally received the BS6 compliant petrol engine. Pricing for the Honda City BS6 petrol now starts from Rs 9.91 lakh ex-showroom which is about Rs 15,000 more than the outgoing version. Speaking about the diesel engine, City diesel BS6 will be available just before the discontinuation of BS4 engines in April 2020.

The base SV variant with petrol engine received a hike of Rs 10,000 whereas the price of V, VX, and ZX manual variants has been increased by Rs 15,000. Least hike is given to the V CVT variant with an increase of just Rs 9,000. Other variants with CVT gearbox – VX CVT and ZX CVT gets a price increment of Rs 15,000.

Coming to the diesel variants, leaving the SV manual which does not get any price hike, all other variants – V, VX, ZX gets a minuscule price hike of Rs 5,000. The diesel engines are still BS4 complaint. This overall price hike might have been done to avoid another hike in January 2020.

Honda Anytime Warranty AutoIndica

After this launch, Honda City is the only sedan with a BS6 unit. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid, and Hyundai Verna are yet to receive the BS6 upgrade. Ciaz will get both 1.5-litre BS6 petrol and diesel engines. Hyundai Verna will receive the BS6 units from Kia Seltos and finally, the Volkswagen will discontinue the 1.6-litre petrol units with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine which will be BS6 compliant. Skoda Rapid is also expected to come equipped with the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol mill.

Price of Anytime warranty for Honda City is Rs 8,739 for 6th year and Rs 14,619 for 10th year, and City diesel for Rs 11,548 and Rs 19,320 respectively.

In other news, Honda is trying to increase the sales as well as customer experience and peace of mind by providing ‘anytime warranty’ up to 10 years/1,20,000 km. This warranty is available for all the Honda cars including Brio, Amaze, Jazz, WR-V, City, BR-V, CR-V, Accord Hybrid as well as discontinued Mobilio. The ‘Anytime Warranty’ can be purchased through any of the Honda dealerships around the country and is also transferable to the new owner if the car is sold.

The eligibility criteria for the ‘anytime warranty’ is that the Honda car must not be older than 10 years and the odometer reading is clocked under 1,20,000 km. It is possible for anyone with an expired factory warranty to buy this to extend their peace of mind. At present, Honda is offering new cars with a 3-year/unlimited km warranty which can be extended to 5 years.
