Kia SP concept based SUV will launch in India in mid-2019, will target Hyundai Creta

We all were awe-struck seeing the Kia SP concept at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Now the Kia SP concept based SUV is ready to hit the Indian market in mid-2019. It will come priced between Rs 10-16 lakh (ex-showroom). Priced aggressively, the SUV will challenge Hyundai Creta. This India-spec SUV will be Kia’s first offering in the country.

The South Korean automaker has been aiming to grab a large chunk in the Indian car market. This Kia SP concept based SUV will play a key role in that strategy. It will also challenge the upcoming Nissan Kicks as well. The Kia SP based SUV will be sold as a premium and aspirational product. The test mule of this car has been already spied in the country.

Kia SP Concept

In terms of styling, the Kia SP will arrive with a premium stance for sure. It will closely follow the concept version. There will be features like projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, sporty alloy wheels, LED taillights etc. The SUV will certainly offer a premium vibe inside the cabin as well. There would be a panoramic sunroof. Touchscreen infotainment system, ample space and automatic climate control will add zing to the cabin.

The Kia SP based SUV will come available in both petrol and diesel engine options complying to BS-VI emission norms. Transmission options will include both manual and automatic gearboxes. Apart from generating impressive power and torque, the SUV will also offer generous fuel efficiency as well. So far, this is going to be an interesting model.

Production for the Kia SP SUV will commence in the first quarter of next year. Following the launch of this model, Kia is gearing up to launch another sub-compact SUV in the country. This new model will debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. This will challenge the rivals like Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon.
