Mercedes-Benz V-Class India launch will mark the brand’s entry in luxury MPV segment, could be priced Rs 80 lakh
Mercedes-Benz is keen to expand its car lineup in India to a new horizon. The luxury car brand is now gearing up to launch the Mercedes-Benz V-Class in India on January 24th, 2019. The Mercedes-Benz V-Class India launch will mark the brand’s entry into the luxury MPV segment. Expect the Mercedes-Benz V-Class price to be around Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Mercedes-Benz sells the V-Class luxury MPV in global market since 2014. The brand has been evaluating the model for the Indian market for a long time. With the demands for luxury vehicles and growing economy, the German automaker feels this is the right time for bringing the MPV here. The upcoming MPV will be available in Indian market in dual seating layout configurations.
In the global market, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class is sold with a sleeper option as well. However, it is not confirmed yet if the India-spec model will come with it or not. Initially, Mercedes Benz V-Class will be imported here from Spain as CBU. AT later stage, we might see the luxury MPV being assembled here locally. No wonder, its price will go down then.
The cabin oozes luxury from every single inch. It gets plush premium leather seats. Also, there are wood trims on the dashboard, a dash-top touchscreen infotainment system, twin-pod instrument cluster with chrome accent. The features and design layout in front of driver seat appear to be similar to many other contemporary Mercedes cars. There will be a host of technologies like Crosswind Assist, fatigue detection attention system etc.
Speaking about its powertrain, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class will come available in a single engine option only. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder, BS-VI compliant OM654 engine is the same unit that works in Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Also, it is available in the Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain as well. The engine is good to churn out 191 bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque.
