Mercedes C200 Progressive 1.5-litre petrol engine is an all-new one and it is paired with mild-hybrid technology
Mercedes-Benz has launched an all-new variant of the 2018 Mercedes C-Class facelift luxury sedan. Christened as Mercedes C200 Progressive, the new model is priced at Rs 43.46 lakh (ex-showroom, Pan India). The car comes powered by a new 1.5-litre petrol engine that churns out 181 bhp of maximum power. Interestingly, the engine gets a 48V mild-hybrid system as well.
The Mercedes C-Class facelift was launched in India back in September 2018. The luxury sedan came with a single diesel engine that kicks out power output in two different states of tune. The Mercedes C220d puts out 191 bhp of peak power. On the other hand, the Mercedes C300d generates 241 bhp of maximum power. Now, adding a petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology enhances the sedan’s appeal further.
The new sedan gets the EQ Boost function, adding up to 14 bhp of power and 160 Nm of torque. This extra power and torque are generated during acceleration. Besides that, the battery energy is recuperated through the belt-driven starter generator. As a result, the powertrain pumps out 181 bhp between 5,800-6,100 rpm and 280 Nm between 3,000-4,000 rpm. Power is channelled to the rear wheels using a 9-speed automatic transmission.
The Mercedes C200 Progressive can accelerate to 100 kmph from standstill position in 7.7 seconds. It comes with a top speed capability of 239 kmph. Speaking about its features, the Mercedes C-Class is equipped with LED headlamps, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control etc. Also, there are leather upholstery, 10.25-inch COMAND touchscreen infotainment system, park assist, ambient lighting with 64 colour options.
