Renault did this to rival the Maruti S Presso which has the styling of an SUV in a smaller package. Kwid sold more than 3 lakh units in the last 4 years mainly due to its SUV like big car styling and cheaper maintenance. The new Kwid gets its styling from the recently launched Renault City KZ-E electric car in China. This new design has split headlight and DRL set up as seen on the Tata Harrier, MG Hector as well as Hyundai Venue. The LED Daytime Running Lights are on the top and halogen headlamp assembly sits below.

The Climber edition comes with only a 1-liter engine option and gets faux skid plates at both ends along with roof rails and 14-inch gunmetal grey alloy wheels. It also gets orange highlights which enhances the visual appeal of the new Kwid. Speaking about the colors, the new Kwid comes in Zanskar Blue, Fiery Red, Moonlight Silver, Ice Cool White, Outback Bronze, and Electric Blue.

The new Kwid RXT includes –

  • LED DRLs
  • 14-inch Gunmetal Grey alloy wheels
  • 8-inch Touchscreen infotainment system
  • Manual AC
  • Rear center armrest
  • Driver side airbag
  • ABS with EBD
  • Seatbelt reminder
  • Speed alert system
  • Reverse parking sensor

The 1.0-liter RXT and Climber edition gets an option for rear powered windows as well as passenger airbag.

There are two engines on offer – 800cc and 1000cc. The 0.8-liter engine develops 54bhp and nm torque whereas the 1.0-liter engine pumps out 67bhp and 90Nm torque. The engines are mated to 5-speed manual transmission whereas the 1.0-liter has an option for 5-speed AMT. These two engines continue to remain in BS4 disguise and their BS6 successors will come before the April 1 deadline. The new Kwid gets a 4-year/1 lakh km warranty with roadside assistance.
