Jeep Compass Trailhawk gets 9-speed automatic and BS-VI engine

Jeep India has been working on the off-road-focused Compass Trailhawk for quite some time. Now, it seems the car is ready for India launch. Jeep India has teased the SUV in an image. Expect it to hit showrooms sometime in July 2019. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk will come with a 9-speed automatic gearbox and a BS-VI emission compliant version of the 2.0-litre engine.

In the foreign markets, Jeep sells the Euro VI emission compliant Compass Trailhawk and that returns 168 bhp of power besides 350 Nm of torque. Expect the India-spec model to come churning out same. This SUV will get 4×4 drivetrain making it well capable of taking off-roading challenges. Besides that 480 mm of water wading depth and 225 mm of ground clearance will aid the SUV to go off-road. This means the Compass Trailhawk comes with 20 mm extra ground clearance compared to the standard Compass.

The Compass Trailhawk will come with a host of attractive features. These include the contrast roof, panoramic sunroof, dual-tone alloy wheels etc. A large 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system will be there, something similar to the Jeep Compass Limited Plus variant.

With all the tech onboard, the Compass Trailhawk will be the most capable off-roader in its segment. Expect the SUV to be priced at around Rs 27 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Jeep has already earned pretty good respect in India thanks to the Compass SUV. This car has become the lead revenue generator for the automaker in India. Now, with the Trailhawk, the carmaker is aiming higher.

The Trailhawk is not only visually attractive compared to the standard Jeep Compass but technically more advanced. This variant of the Compass SUV has become popular across the world and in India too, FCA is expecting similar success.
