Kia Seltos X-line concept has all we desire
In the Los Angeles Auto Show 2019, Kia has unveiled meaner and muscular version of Kia Seltos for the American market. The Kia Seltos X-Line Trail and X-Line Urban concepts will make way for production (most probably) by 2021. Korean company has also unveiled base variant for series production which will be placed between Kia Soul and Kia Sportage in the US market.
Seltos in the American market will come with more powerful engine options than we have here in India. For the base variant, a 2.0-litre petrol engine will do the job which delivers 146bhp (a bit low for engine of that size). Another option is a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol unit which is tuned to develop 176bhp and 264Nm twisting force. Coming to the gearbox, the Naturally aspirated 2.0-litre engine will be mated to a CVT transmission while the turbo petrol will get a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
Not only this, but higher variants of the SUV will get an All-Wheel Drive system as standard. Feature-wise, Kia Seltos in the American market will come with UVO connect system same as in Indian market, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging among others.
The safety in the Seltos for the US market is also not compromised, the SUV will get company’s Drive Wise safety package. This package includes essentials like blind-spot monitoring and collision avoidance system, driver attention warning, lane keeps assist, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, highway follow assist, rear occupant alert, safe exit assist , and adaptive cruise control.
Coming to the X-Line Trail Attack concept, it gets a custom suspension setup which increase the ride height by 51mm and ground clearance stands at 235mm. For extreme off-roading, the X-Line Trail Attack gets centre differential lock. This extreme Seltos get 17-inch custom alloy wheels, a rear winch, a roof rack as well as Hella auxiliary lights on the roof and bumper.
Urban biased Seltos X-Line concept gets a lot of customised parts from its off-road cousin like AWD, lifted suspension setup, aux lights, hood scoop, roof rack and all.
As for India, the Korean company is working on Carnival MPV and a new compact SUV for the Indian market. These new products will be launched in the second half of the year 2020.
