Is this Renault Triber a super spacious Kwid? Maruti Ertiga be aware

Renault Triber

Upcoming Renault Triber will be an affordable MPV based on the Kwid, targets rivals like Datsun Go+ and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

Renault is in search of fortune in India. Suffering from lacklustre sales for quite some time, the French automaker is desperate to get some oxygen and the Renault Triber seems to play the role for the brand. Rumoured to be the Kwid hatchback based MPV, this three-seater people mover will challenge the Datsun Go+ and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. It is expected to boost the brand’s sales numbers significantly.

Renault has already revealed the name online. The Renault Triber will come based on a highly modular CMF-A platform that will help both Renault and Nissan in coming days with new products. What excites me is the chance, that it could be another gamechanger in the highly in-demand MPV segment, just like its sibling Renault Kwid.

The Renault Triber is expected to launch in India sometime in the second half of 2019. It will surely come carrying an aggressive price tag, thanks to the local production. The automaker promises to offer a wide range of variants for this car. From spartan looking base variant to feature-rich top trims. Interestingly, Renault is planning to make India the export hub for this model, besides making it a prime market for this model.

Among the present models from Renault-Nissan group, the Kwid and Redi-Go are based on the CMF-A architecture. However, these small cars have been accused of not having the necessary safety features. However, the Renault Triber will come complying with the new and stringent crash test norms.

Upcoming Renault Triber would get both petrol and diesel engine options, while both manual and AMT gearbox options are on the card for this model. Speaking about its design, the car will come with impressive ground clearance, generous space and comfort on offer. Like the Renault Kwid, this MPV too could receive a crossover like a body cladding adding masculine appeal.
