New Toyota Camry teased online ahead of launch

New Toyota Camry is based on the TNGA platform and it is ready for India launch on January 18, 2019

Toyota is all set to roll out the new generation Toyota Camry in India on January 18, 2019. Ahead of its launch, the Japanese automaker has teased the model in a new video. This hybrid sedan has been the pioneer of hybrid powertrain technology in India and the new generation model takes the game one step up with the major upgrade.

The major changes implemented in the 2019 Toyota Camry include the updated features. The sedan boasts a new design following the brand’s latest design language. Also, there are LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, sleek LED taillight, lip spoiler etc. The new Toyota Camry gets a bigger 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-inch MID at instrument cluster, 10-inch head-up display. Also, there is a triple-zone automatic climate control adding extra premiumness.

The automaker has left no stones unturned in making the next generation Toyota Camry more appealing. This new version of the sedan is based on Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform. It means the sedan is lightweight and rigid than before. Adding a superior level of safety to the car are the 9 airbags along with other features.

The eighth generation Toyota Camry hybrid is powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. It is mated to an 88 kW electric motor. Combined the hybrid powertrain kicks out 208 bhp of maximum power. An 8-speed E-CVT is there channelling the power to front wheels. The hybrid sedan will be locally assembled in Toyota’s Bidadi plant in order to keep pricing lower.

Toyota Camry hybrid

Expect the Toyota Camry hybrid price to be around Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch, it will compete with rivals like Honda Accord hybrid and the Lexus ES 300h as well. Toyota is hoping to see greater sales result for the new generation Camry as the customers are shifting their focus towards greener powertrain technology.
