Tata Tiago NRG will challenge Ford Freestyle and Maruti Suzuki Celerio X.

Tata Tiago NRG has been launched in India at a starting price tag of Rs 5.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Available in petrol and diesel options, the latter one comes priced at Rs 6.31 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Therefore it is priced around Rs 50,000 premium over the standard Tiago XZ. The Tata Tiago hatchback based crossover comes with an eye-catchy styling that grabs attention easily. However, the changes come in form of cosmetic updates only, while mechanically it remains same as the regular Tiago. NRG in the nomenclature signifies ‘energy’, which is something the automaker used to describe the ruggedness of this crossover.

Speaking about the changes, the Tata Tiago NRG will be available in three different colour options – Malabar Silver, Canyon Orange and Fuji White. It comes sporting a beefy appearance compared to the standard Tiago. It boasts a black body kit that comprises dual-tone front bumpers, black body cladding around wheel arches. Also, there are silver scuff plates, side skirts adding a bit of toughness to the car. Front grille, roof, mirrors and B pillar of the Tata Tiago NRG comes featuring a blacked out treatment. Apart from that, there are sporty alloy wheels, black roof rails in order to give the car an SUV like appearance. The car gets a practical ground clearance of 180mm.

Inside the cabin, the Tata Tiago NRG boasts sporty look thanks to the black scheme contrasting with the body coloured trims at different places like AC vents, gearbox console, centre console etc. Seat and upholstery of the car come with unique appearance compared to the standard Tiago. Tata hopes to receive good response with this model keeping an eye to the nearing festive season. This car competes with rivals like Maruti Suzuki Celerio X and Ford Freestyle.

Power source options remains same as the Tata Tiago hatchback. The Tiago NRG gets a 1.2-litre Revotron engine and a 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel motor. Power and torque outputs are same as its hatchback sibling.
