New generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR will have an electric variant that will launch in 2020.

New generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR is one of the much awaited cars in India for quite some time and latest report suggests it will be launched in India in 2019. The new generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR will come with a completely revised appearance. What’s more interesting is, there will be a fully electric variant of the tallboy hatchback that will launch in India in 2020, as the brand’s first EV. Interestingly road tests for Maruti Suzuki’s EV prototypes will commence from next month.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR is currently in its sixth generation model in the global market, which is coming to India. What we see here, is the second generation model and the fourth generation one was introduced here as WagonR Stingray. Therefore, we are about too a significantly different version of the popular car once it launches in India in 2019. The design becomes sharper and more contemporary adding style and upmarketness to the car.

In terms of features, the new generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR arrives with a touchscreen infotainment system, more digitised instrument cluster, improved quality seat and upholstery. In terms of safety features, it is likely to have dual front airbags as standard along with ABS and EBD. Also, top trims in the lineup could get reverse parking camera and sensor. So far, the new generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR will surely impress us with its overall appearance.

Coming to the most important part of the car, the new generation WagonR is expected to get an updated BS-VI emission norms compliant 1.0-litre K10 petrol engine in India, while the Japanese market-spec model gets a small 660cc engine. Transmission options is expected to include both manual and AGS. In terms of fuel efficiency, the new generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR is likely to offer more compared to the current model.
